20 Passwords a Week?
I decided to try to count how many different passwords I use regularly. No reason, just curious. Here’s what I came up with, though I keep feeling like I’m forgetting some.
Used at Least Once a Day:
- Home main computer login
- Work computer login
- Work e-mail login
- Blackberry unlock password
- Laptop full-disk encryption login
- Laptop user login
- Gmail login
- Home Linux machine login (for remote control of my home machine via Remote Desktop over SSH while I’m at work)
- Firefox master password to decrypt the saved passwords
Used About Once a Week:
- Other e-mail account logins (probably about 5 or 6that I check once a week or more)
- ATM PIN
- Home phone voicemail password
- Cell phone voicemail password
- Bank site login
- Web host login
Now, these don’t count all of the passwords saved in Firefox for various web sites. That would get a little ridiculous. The web sites listed are ones I don’t save the password to, just for added security.
So that comes out to about 20 memorized passwords that are used at least once a week. Welcome to 2008. Hope you don’t have any Alzheimer’s. Wonder how many it’ll be in another 20 years.
