Poor Donald Rumsfeld

Wow, Donald Rumsfeld is getting it from all sides lately. Poor guy. All he wanted to do was take over the world and be vice-dictator to his buddy George W. Bush. But with so many people attacking him for something so innocent as trying to rule the world, it’s getting tougher and tougher for him to be his natural evil self.

Don’t make him become an actor just to get your acceptance! Just accept Rumsfeld as the evil Satan-spawn that he is. Don’t make him put on some phony “nice” act where he tries to be on the side of good; that’s just not his natural self. You wouldn’t have asked Adolf Hitler to put on happy clown makeup and pretend to be everybody’s buddy, would you? That’s just not right. You shouldn’t be trying to change people away from their innate evilness.

And now Maureen Dowd jumps on the hate bandwagon with “The Rummy Mutiny,” with mean-spirited attacks like this:

W. should have fired Rummy long ago, after the sickening news of Abu Ghraib and torture stories out of Gitmo. He should have fired him as soon as it became clear that the defense secretary who bungled the occupation and insurgency has no idea how to get out of Iraq and stop American kids from getting blown up day after day by homemade bombs.

That’s so one-sided, Maureen! How do you know that those kids didn’t want to be blown up by homemade bombs? How do you know that everyone who let themselves be sent to Abu Ghraib and Gitmo were really S&M fetishists who were looking for some free torture and abuse?

And even if that wasn’t the case, Rumsfeld is just a born-again evil man. Maybe he’s the actual anti-Christ, and maybe not–I’ll leave that debate to the theologists. But in any case, what ever happened to live and let live? Turn the other cheek? Don’t go changing to try to please me, you never let me down before? And don’t imagine you’re too familiar and I don’t see you anymore?

Whatever happened to I would not leave you in times of trouble, we never could have come this far? Ooh ooh ooh? I took the good times, I’ll take the bad times, I take you just the way you are?

Billy Joel would support Donald Rumsfeld 100%. He’d never try to change him from a devil into an angel.

It’s just not right!
