Tom DeLay Quotes to Remember Him By

Quotes. I love quotes. Pull out a few and drop them on a web page, and you’ve said a lot about a person without actually going through the trouble of saying anything of your own. You’re, like, totally using their own words against them.

They can’t deny that they said them (well, they can, but hopefully your source is good), and all they can do is complain about context. Which usually doesn’t get them very far:

Sure, I said “All Democrats should be killed,” but your missing the context. If I recall correctly, the full quote was this: “What would I do if I was the supreme dictator of the United States? Well, obviously, all Democrats should be killed, first of all. After that, maybe Satan and I could have a picnic on the bodies of the slain Democrats. I’ve always wanted to have a sweet little romantic picnic with Satan, but it’s hard to do with the Democrats and the radical liberal media asking questions about why I’m picnicking with Satan. After the picnic, maybe reinstate slavery and invade Mexico? We’ll see what kind of mood I’m in.”

See? When you have the full quote, it all makes sense. You can’t just take stuff out of context like that.

So, on this so-sad day when Tom DeLay announces he’s stepping down, how about some quotes to remember him by? The Booman Tribune has a nice collection of quotes. Here are a few, check the link for some more:

On his mugshot:

“I said a little prayer before I actually did the fingerprint thing, and the picture,” he said. “My prayer was basically: ‘Let people see Christ through me. And let me smile.’ Now, when they took the shot, from my side, I thought it was fakiest smile I’d ever given. But through the camera, it was glowing. I mean, it had the right impact. Poor old left couldn’t use it at all.”

Is that Jesus Christ I see through him? Good thing the poor old left couldn’t make fun of it one bit. If only it had been a funnier mug shot, we could have seen it on The Daily Show and blogs all over the world…

The judges need to be intimidated. They need to uphold the Constitution. (If they don’t behave) we’re going to go after them in a big way.

Don’t forget the lie that is global warming, Tom:

It’s the arrogance of man to think that man can change the climate of the world. Only nature can change the climate. A volcano, for instance.

And a few extra ones found on Wikiquote:

I don’t believe there is a separation of church and state. I think the Constitution is very clear. The only separation is that there will not be a government church.

I guess that explains a lot…

The causes of youth violence are working parents who put their kids into daycare, the teaching of evolution in the schools, and working mothers who take birth control pills.

If only we could make birth control pills illegal for working mothers, we could cut down on youth violence. The solution is so clear, but America just wasn’t ready for it. Poor unappreciated Tom DeLay.

Lots of other good quotes out there, but I’ve spent too much time on him already. Remember America, treasure people like Tom DeLay while we have them; before you know it, they could be stepping down admist controversy and corruption, and then where will you be? That’s right. Alone, scared, and hungry.
