Good Old “Tammy NYP” Has the Internet Cornered
I don’t think I’ve ever seen one topic get all of the top 5 search spots on Technorati, but there she is, good old Tammy from NYP. I feel a little dirty myself just adding to the Tammy post count, but with all the commotion it probably won’t even be noticed.

That #1 search is a weird one. If you were looking for people talking about her and her video, why would you think the phrase “Tammy Nyp” would be in the post? Wouldn’t the posts say things more like “Tammy from NYP”?
The #2 search is ok, but pretty vague.
The #3 search is the one that seems the most likely to give you the results you want. I don’t know why it’s only in third place though. Why does that weird quoted phrase get the gold, and the good one get the bronze?
And then in #4 is Singapore. Now, I’m just assuming this is a search for our friend Tammy as well, and I think it’s a pretty good assumption. But it’s a terrible search if that’s what you’re looking for. What’s wrong with people? We’ve had Internet search engines for 10 or 11 years now, and you’re searching for “Singapore” in the hopes that you’ll find Tammy’s porn video?
#5 is ok. It’s not a good search, but it’s likely to find what you want in this case.
If you look at the top 15, she has two more searches there.
But then, of course, you have to ask why people are so interested. Homemade porn videos leak all the time, and I don’t remember seeing this much commotion before. Is it an Asian thing, where most of the interest is from people in Singapore? If that’s not it, then I’m at a loss to explain the interest.
Maybe it just got enough momentum that it became a snowball of porn searches and blog posts. I wouldn’t be writing this if it hadn’t cornered the Technorati market. If there wasn’t all this interest, I wouldn’t be contributing to it.
In a way Technorati’s top searches are always like that. Once something breaks the top 5, more and more people will be searching for it by just clicking the links up there. In a way it’s good, because I’ve found all kinds of interesting things that I hadn’t heard of before seeing them in the top searches list. And then you get things like brrreeeport and Tammy that just take over when they aren’t important enough to warrant it.
(By the way, I can’t tell you how excited I am to see brrreeeport off the list. I finally feel safe speaking the word again.)
Should I be offended that nobody’s searching for the infamous fakerake homemade .3gp cameraphone video? Probably. Screw you all.
