Latest Way to Make Money Online: Reviewme

So, this is something new: Reviewme. It’s a service where advertisers can buy reviews on your blog. First of all, great business model: connect advertisers with publishers, and take a cut. All they do is keep the database of blogs and let advertisers browse them, and handle taking the money and giving out payment. Well, I guess they also review blogs as well.

Blogs with less incoming links (Technorati rank) and readership are cheaper to advertise on, and get the blogger less money.

But while advertisers can look around at different blogs that they can pay for reviews on, they also can see the URL of the site. That makes sense, they should be able to see what they’re buying a review on. But that means that the advertisers can contact the blogger directly, skipping the middle man. The advertiser gets a cheaper deal, since they aren’t paying Reviewme’s cut, the blogger can get a little more money as well, and the review won’t say that it’s a Reviewme review, even though it is still sponsored. Whether or not the blogger wants to mention that would be up to them (Reviewme reviews are required to disclose that fact.)

The interesting thing is the number of posts you see out there in the past few days about Reviewme which are tagged as being a sponsored review from Reviewme. It looks like Reviewme is using their own service to pay bloggers to write about them.

And here I am writing about them for free. This is not a Reviewme sponsored review. Am I ripping myself off by not making $20 or so from this post?

By the way, if anyone really wants to pay me money to write about them, feel free to contact me directly.
