Gmail Down
UPDATE: I get several people a day reading this post because they’re getting the same error. It looks like something that just happens once in a while for small group of people. Try waiting a few minutes and hopefully it’ll be better by then. If you want to leave your exciting tale of error code 007 (I hope there’s nudity involved) feel free to do so in the comments.
There’s something you don’t see every day: Gmail going down.
I’ve had weird problems with a single Gmail account before, but others have been ok. But while I’m at work I’m usually signed into two different Gmail accounts from two different Firefox profiles at the same time, and over two different connections (one account is over an SSH tunnel to my home computer so my company can’t spy on it.)
And now they’re both down. One just isn’t loading anything, and the Google Talk chat says that there’s a problem connecting to chat and that chat messages may not be sent.
The other account gave me a little pop-up window that said
Oops… the system was unable to perform your operation (error code 007).
Please try again in a few seconds.
I think it’s a good time to put on my whacko-crazy conspiracy theorist costume and accuse Google of trying to sneak marketing for the new James Bond Film into Gmail. They’re just becoming evil and trying to cash in, I tells ya! Error code 007? That can’t mean anything. It’s all subliminal advertising for Casino Royale, and I’m not going to fall for it. I’m going to go outside, stand on the street corner, and tell everyone within earshot (which will be a lot of people, because I’ll be shouting) that Google is doing subliminal advertising in the hopes of getting a quick buck.
Just evil.
And now that I’ve taken the time to go crazy over here in my corner of the Interwebs, Gmail’s back up and working good as always. Looks like I scared them into getting their act straightened out, huh? You can thank me in the comments.
